How to choose thermal pads

Select proper thickness of thermal pads to fill the gaps between heat sources and heatsink. You may fill up the gap between heat sources and heatsink by stacking multiple pieces of thermal pad if necessary.

Performance needed

Thermal pad with high thermal conductivity provide sufficient heat transfer, resulting in a better cooling solution. High power applications (e.g. GPU) may require the thermal pad with higher thermal conductivity. According to your applications, please select thermal pads with suitable specifications from our product list.

Storage and transportation

Store in a ventilated, cool, dry place, do not touch open flames. 
The best storage temperature is –10 to 40 °C

Preparation

Remove previously used pad (if present)

Clean up the surface carefully and remove the old thermal pad or dirt with eraser / isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth or paper towel that doesn’t shed, and let it dry before continue.

Installation

Measure the size of area that you want to apply the thermal pad.

Cut to size and place on components (refer to How to choose thermal pads → area to cover)

FAQ
Can I stack several layers?
Yes, be careful when combining them not to include air bubbles or dirt in the mating layer.
Can I re-use thermal pads?
Yes as long as it does not appear degraded (hardened, dirty, oily,...). 
Do I need to protect the open contacts of the components?
No, the thermal pads are not electrically conductive, there is no need to protect the electronics components contacts from short circuit.
